Avet Fishing Reels
Avet fishing reels- where old meets new!
Though a comparative newbie in the fishing reels business, Avet fishing reels have quickly
become a viable alternative to some of the Tier 1 saltwater reels brands. Avet fishing reels came into existence in
Chatsworth, California when two Armenian brothers, Sarkis and Harry Alajajyan decided to convert their passion for
fishing combined with dissatisfaction with the existing products into a business.
Satisfied with their own product they successfully launched Avet
Reels in 2001. Over the years, the original two production machines have expanded to thirty and among them are the
top-of-the line multi-axes computer controlled precision manufacturing units which also include the robotic CNC or
computer numerically controlled machines.
Avet fishing reels are used for both saltwater and freshwater fishing with a choice of
a single or double drag system. A new radical line of saltwater reels was introduced in 2002 which completely
transformed the conventional reel market. These reels used spur gearing in lower ratios models and for their
high-speed retrieval models, they went in for a special gear system which was very similar to a transmission. This
gave leverage to big saltwater game anglers for effortless operation even under the most demanding conditions.
The new SX two-speed model is also arousing a lot of interest as is the Big 80,
specifically for marlin fishing. The one-piece reel frames of Avet along with the spools and side plates are all
made from billet 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum stock. They are corrosion resistant with excellent casting and drag
systems. Avet fishing reels has more “Level-drag two-speed reels” than other competing manufacturers and it is not
an idle boast when it proclaims itself to be "Home of the 100+Drag Reel”.
Stringent quality control in Avet fishing reels means that every reel is assembled by
hand and right from the raw material to the final product, it is all done in their Chatsworth shop with no place
for outside vendors. Every reel is machined to very tight tolerances so that all parts are similar and
interchangeable. This meticulous attention to detail is what makes these particular fishing reels stand out from
competition. If parts need to be changed even after decades, they will provide the same tight fit as earlier.
Top-end rubber seals are used to protect all ball bearings so that even if the entire
reel is submerged in saltwater, it need not be dismantled for cleaning. The angler simply has to dunk the reel in a
bucket of fresh water to remove the salt. As the owner Harry maintains, “Avet is the only reel on the market that
anglers can do this to and the reel will still maintain its smoothness."
Avet fishing reels enjoys the best of the Old and the New Worlds by combining European
craftsmanship with computer-controlled precision manufacturing. In current times, where high price does not
necessarily mean high quality, Avet fishing reels stand out for their commitment to providing state-of-the-art
fishing equipment at very competitive prices thus well-deserving the world-wide recognition as leaders in the
fishing reels industry.
